# Appointments App - End-User Views & Templates Implementation

## Executive Summary

This document tracks the implementation of missing end-user views and templates for the appointments app. The focus is on creating patient-facing and provider-facing interfaces to complement the existing administrative functionality.

### Key Requirements
1. **Patient Self-Service**: Request-only model (no direct booking)
2. **Provider Workflow**: Daily schedule and quick check-in interfaces
3. **Mobile API**: Separate mobile app will use API endpoints
4. **Queue Display**: Consolidate duplicate queue display templates
5. **Telemedicine**: Deferred to last priority (full integration)

**Decision Rationale:**
- Waiting list is primarily an administrative tool (staff-initiated workflow)
- Patients already have appointment request functionality (Phase 1A)
- Queue status already available for real-time waiting (Phase 1B)
- Staff contacts patients when slots become available
- Avoids duplicate/confusing functionality for end users

**Alternative Approach:**
- Patients request appointments → Status: PENDING
- Staff manages waiting list administratively
- Staff contacts patients when slots available
- Patients can view their pending requests in Phase 1A views
